Bothell boy makes it big as a 'Wimpy Kid'

The well-known book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is now a Hollywood movie -- and one of the stars lives right here in our area. The movie opens March 19 in theaters. And Karan Brar of Bothell plays the role of -- a wimpy kid. But in real life, he's one of the nicest, most down-to-earth 11-year-olds you'll ever want to meet. He's just a local kid who told his dad one day, "I want to try acting." "I thought he might like it -- I don't know," says his father. Months later, Hollywood came knocking. Karan auditioned for the role of Chirag and beat out 9,000 other kids for the part.

"It was huge, and my dad called, and I was just happy," says Karan. "This is a land of opportunity, and this thing happens only in America," says his father. Based on the popular book, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is a story about all the awkward things a prepubescent kid goes through, starting out in middle school ... the hormones, trying to fit in, getting picked on by the older kids. During filming, Karan's day started at the crack of dawn, and his co-stars would chat about their own experiences in school. "They were really nice -- it was like long-time friends," says Karan.

But, the funny thing is -- Karan actually starts sixth grade himself -- this fall. His big sister, Sabreena, will be in the seventh grade. Will she say "hi" to him in the hallway? Sabreena thinks about it: "No -- well, maybe." Kidding aside, the whole family couldn't be more proud. "We are blessed to have a kid like Karan," says his proud mother.

And he promises he'll keep a level head. "Me and my friends are same old, same old," he says. Especially now that he's famous.

Thanks Rane and Dolly . We just came back from Fox Studios Hollywood after Screening of the film. Lot of people watched the movie with us. Movie is so funny that every age group will enjoy watching. Fox president and all other people from studios congratulate karan for good job he done. Karan was giving autographs to lot of fans and we felt very happy to see all that.

U can watch karan on king5 Tv news during opening of the Film.Same day he will be in Indiawest newspaper from california and also in seattle Times daily news paper.
