Laughs of a Generation died with Jaspal Bhatti

Jaspal Bhatti DeathPunjabi comedy king and film actor Jaspal Bhatti is sadly no more among us. Jaspal Bhatti died in a car accident today morning around 3AM.

If you were born in the 80s, you couldn’t have missed the Flop Show. With just 10 episodes of extreme satire mingled with subtle humor and powerful performances of many Punjabi theater artists, Flop Show was the show with which a whole generation of India learned how to laugh.

Jaspal Bhatti was the genius behind the show and it’s never seen before structure incorporating the elements of songs, skits and character based comedy. But today, at 3 AM in the morning, the Mis-Director of Ulta Pulta, Flop Show, Full Tension, Mahaul Theek Hai and many other social comedies left this mortal plain in a car accident.

Jasraj Bhatti, son of Jaspal Bhatti was driving the Honda Accord and was also accompanied by Surili Gautam, the lead actress in Jaspal Bhatti’s movie Power Cut which is to be released tomorrow. Surili is the sister of Yami Gautam (lead Actress of Vicky Donor) and the daughter of National Award winner Director Mukesh Gautam.

Jaspal Bhatti and the team were going to Nakodar from Bathinda on the promotional tour of the movie Power Cut.
Jasraj Bhatti and Surili Gautam were also injured by an accident and were rushed to the hospital at Jalandhar.

The cremation will take place today in the evening after his body is brought to Chandigarh. Jaspal Bhatti’s death has left a huge void not just in the Punjabi Film Industry but also in the hearts of a whole generation of India. The great actor will always be missed. Our condolences go out to the family. May his soul Rest in Peace. (4693)

really shocking new, all of the sudden.
I will make my tribute by arguing all drivers to be careful while driving
    1. wear seat belts.
    2. Don’t drink drive.
    3. Fatigue kills.

i can’t stop thinking of his family how whole world suddenly changed for them.

It is hard to contemplate that a qualified electrical engineer opted to become a satirist and a comedian. Because of his education in applied sciences and mathematics, Jaspal Bhatti became a highly focussed comedian. He identified the problems of malice afflicting the society and highlighted those through one liners of satire. He criticized the political class, without antagonising them. The shock of his untimely demise is unbearable. Sometimes God can be unjust too.

I feel so sad. He lighted up our evenings and sent us into squeals of laughter, his wife, vevek shauq, Oh they made such a wonderful team. Then there were Jijaji, and other of his films, How the whole family would crowd around the TV. Oh!! He is irreplaceable.
